poetry

some fall in love

others love the idea of love

some thirst for water

others sip champagne in delight

poetry

i’ve fallen for you

you’re a scarf to smoothen out of place strands

you’re velvet to skin

cognac to the lost weeper

tea drank by the grassy bank

a sail to brave through strong winds and tides

pot of gold under the rainbow

a listener, comforter

nurse to the banes of my life

Sleep

When the hours are long gone

And we ache in our bones

A place of rest, we find to repose

So we close our eyes, and curl our toes

And for some hours or more, our troubles subside

But in the middle of the night, we awaken wide

And are reminded once again of our pending perils

Wishing we could sleep forever, take some sleeping pills

To forget all our worries and put them on hold

But it continues years and years, till we are frail and old

Realizing then, the fallacies on TV we’ve been sold

Only maybe, we’d be closer to a forever sleep

Shutting our eyes, one final time, with all our uncertainties buried away deep.

Black and White

Down by the lakefront
I live in a black and white world
Bottling my kaleidoscope
To be carried to the distant

I am never satisfied
In a world of colour
For in a black and white world
There will alway be possibility

There is a drive I thrive on
A burning flame of passion
Raw, unfixed thoughts
Uncoloured dreams

Down by the lakefront
Captured in a black and white photo
No blue to your sky, no green to weeds
More room for visions for the unsatisfied soul

The Back of Love

Rose coloured glasses

A lover inducing fever

Butterflies, dying everyday

All these, I encountered at the back of love

Clay, remolded at every chance

Anticipation, a string necklace ripped off

Pulling oceans from beyond the horizon

All these, I encountered at the back of love

The back of love

Obstacle ridden

Buoys one day, land mines on another

All that I’ve known, is the back of love

ALMOST

Lovers tiff, they near their brink

Almost, amounts to naught

The ‘what ifs’, the ‘could have beens’, all sunk deep

Almost, it spearheads the shipwreck.

Lovers distant, but in love

And almost is to blame for the wedge

Happy endings in search of the shores

Almost, repels, casting them to tides high.
